Missionary 101

So by now everyone knows that on Saturday it was announced that Kansas City is getting a temple! Wahoo! I'm excited, but I can't act too excited, because I leave next Springish/Summerish.

When I was a teenager I got to experience the St. Louis temple being built. It was amazing, wonderful and all those other happy adjectives that you are thinking of. In fact, I was going through my super old scrapbook last week and found the page with my "Open House Ticket" on it. It brings back memories. I am so happy for all of my friends here who will get to experience the blessings of helping prepare their friends for the temple.

Okay so now for my favorite part of building a temple... THE QUESTIONS!! Once they break ground, people start to notice that something is going on, then they feel like they can ask you questions. (which is a good thing). I love the questions from people who don't know about the church. See everyone has preconceived ideas about my religion and the best conversation starter is of course The Temple.

So my big recommendation to everyone in the Kansas City area is: Be prepared for questions!! All Sorts!! It's like going through a Missionary Class. People will be watching!

And on that note: What is the strangest question that you have been asked about your religion?

(P.S Adam will be so excited that I posted a blog entry about Religion. He thinks I am anti-missionary work.)

My favorite question was: "I heard you burn all of the carpet after the temple open house, because unholy feet have walked on it."

I told her they have to replace the carpet because thousands of feet have walked across it not because the feet were "unholy".

Two of my favorite questions:
Where do you hide your horns?
You can't drink milk or use electricity, right?
I love the questions too.

"You guys celebrate Halloween?" I think sometimes people confuse us with Jehovah's Witnesses...

You can't get blood transfusions, right?

As well as...

You can't dance, right?

(Well, apparently, I can dance. I don't know about some of those other people who frequented the stake dances back in the day.)

I wish I had somebody ask me a far-out question. Maybe now that I'm out of Utah it might happen. I can't wait to laugh in their face. Maybe that wouldn't be so smart though. Could you teach me some missionary prep lessons just in case?

OKAY, since you won't put a button on your blog I will just go ahead and announce to all your friends and family-

EVERY PLEASE VISIT

http://fabulousfunfinds.blogspot.com
There are 46 items up for grabs and Jenny really doesn't want any of them, so please make sure there are so many comments for each giveaway that her chances of getting drawn decrease!!! As a result my blog ratings will go up and my sponsors will pay me more:)

Oh yes, I find the time to find all these fabulous items because my husband is not at home at night ATLEAST 3 times a week if not more! (Life of a fireman) You know a husband is like having another kid! When one kid is gone it seems like there is a lot less work to do:)

Heather, I deserve my extra vote then! and I think you should be splitting any income with me! (Just cause, no real reason there)

Also, it's not my fault that I am smarter than your other blog fans. I know that my chances go down when more people know, your "fans" just seem to be focusing on their extra vote (like that is going to change the world).

My favorite question was "SO, I heard that you guys have to wear the garments 24-7..shower in them, have sex in them, everything..is that true?"
I was half tempted to just say yes and walk away this guy was such a shmuck.
Then, someone else asked me if I was wearing the secret underwear and they wanted to know what it looked like. AFter walloping them in the throat I told them that my undergarmetns were none of their frikkin biznass!
Maybe I didn't handle that one so well.

Oh...and I forgot to say that I LOVE the questions as well. It's SO refreshing to have a chance to share our beliefs and how cool the gospel is! Lucky you!!!
