Today is a good day

I should warn you , before you read this post, if you don't like my gooshy swooshy loveyness, then skip this post. My title says it all. I really could just leave it at that, but of course I won't. Yesterday, was my dreaded talk that I had to give. It went well mostly... Right before I went up I realized that my pages were out of order, and I said Oh no!, a friend of mine handed me a pen to number them so that it wouldn't happen again.

Well... I numbered them wrong. When I turned to page 3 I realized it was actually page 4 and that some how page 2 had ended up at the end. I'm sure that I'm confusing you, but I was more confused. Luckily my talk was on humor, and the sisters seemed to find it amusing.

I just feel so relieved to have it over with. It's been in the back of my mind since she asked me back in December, that's a long time to have to worry about giving a talk. It could have been worse too, I could have been asked to give a talk on a serious subject, but I can handle Humor.

So as a reward for my talk, I have been blessed with a great day! I mean nothing spectacular happened, it's just been one of those days where you sit back and appreciate everything you've been given. Today felt like a Percocet all rolled up into a day.

It started out that I had to take the 4 kids to church by myself. Adam is the Stake Clerk and that means on top of his weekly meetings he has to go to all of the Ward Conferences. It averages out to be about one a month, which is really not too bad until you factor in the children.

So this was my first time with all of them by myself at church and it could have gone HORRIBLY, but instead I found it to be a very pleasant experience. I sat there watching my children be reverent, Paige did take 3 pieces of bread, but still they were great. I kept thinking to myself. "Wow, we've done something right" I'm sure all parents feel like they are lacking at times, I know I feel that way a lot. Not today though, today was a day where I got to appreciate my children. They really are good kids.

I'm sure tomorrow they will be having their whiny moments, but today was heavenly.

I don't have any pictures that go along with it, so I'll just add some random ones.

I told you I was going to get random, This is going to be the cover for my next Christmas card, it will say something like "You can only Dream of looking this good!" or "I'd give you a piece of pie, but I ate it all" Either would be true. It's actually from a pie eating contest this past Summer.

I love this picture. The joy that this girl brings to me is enormous. She is a good girl. This is from about 1 1/2 months ago, I found him on the counter eating candy corn off of the top of the fridge. I guess I can't blame him. I'd probably climb Mt. Kilimanjaro if they put a French Silk Pie on the tippy top of it. This is from about the same time as the Tommy picture. Since I'm gushing about the monsters, I can just say that Paige sparkles, she's definitely going to give me a run for my money when she's a teenager, but until that day I'll keep her.

My sweet grandmother once told me that she thought I'd never get married (that was because I used to spin the boys around my head at the dances). She didn't really mean it (I think), but there were several nights where I wondered if she would be right.
Oh how I miss her and I soo wish she could see me know. She would be proud. I got the best of both worlds. Not only did I get married, I married a man who lets me spin him around my head. Is there really a luckier women out there?

Help! Another Snow Day!!

I am soo over this winter season. I'm done. I quit. I really do. I mean I love my monsters, but they want to go to school. You know it's been a long winter when they are even annoyed with a snow day. So pray for me today. Preston is still sick and on breathing treatments and I still have to finish my talk for Saturday's Stake Enrichment... I feel like tapping my ruby slippers together to get to March. March will be a good month. I can feel it already.

On a brighter note, Tommy's English is progressing. He is starting to sound more human like everyday. He now tries to speak in sentences and has more of an opinion on things. Adam said he now has a personality besides "Dog". That's what we referred to him as before. Mostly because he preferred barking over English and he liked to crawl around and jump on his siblings, so I'm sure you can see the similarities to a dog.

Well if I have time to blog I should probably be working on my talk instead. I'm sure you guys have already caught on that I don't want to work on it, and I am just trying to delay the inevitable. Okay well if you are in the Kansas City area on Saturday DON'T COME to the Stake Enrichment.

Aren't they cute! You don't have to answer that question, I already know they are.

So he can speak! We don't always understand the sentences, but we are excited that he is trying. He is definitely my slowest talker yet.

Here is Preston at 4 months. He has broncilknljoitis right now so I have him on breathing treatments. Oh the joy! It's like having Kelly all over again.

Pajama Day

Paige: Mom, tomorrow is pajama day.

Me: No Paige Tomorrow is not pajama day.

Paige: But I want to wear my pajamas to school.

Me: We don't wear pajamas to school.

Paige: Okay...but I really want to wear them to school.

Me: Sorry Paige

Paige: So when is pajama day.

So no there isn't pajama day and there will not be pajama day. Poor Paige will never get to wear her pajamas to school. I hope she will survive.

And All Before Lunch

Some days I am ambitious... too ambitious. Otherdays I am an under achiever. I never know what I am going to be until I wake up in the morning. It's kind of like the always changing weather.
Today is one of those ambitious days. I'm sure I am feeling this way though, because my sister is visiting and she just lights up my days.
So this morning I made a few phonecalls and had some friends over for homemade cinnamon rolls and then I made my sister Melanie her birthday present (which is quite adorable if you ask me)
So I guess you could call this post a "Yes I am THAT super cool", but if you saw that I was still wearing my pajamas that might change your opinion
ETA: Hey Michelle I just finished yours. Here it is.

Oh My Man!

So yesterday was the wonderful romanticful holiday that we call Valentine's Day. Some people are under the impression that it is a made up holiday, just to force people to buy things. It's kinda like an economic stimulus package all wrapped up into a day... or so they believe. Here is my Opinion if you care. (Which of course you do otherwise why would you still be reading)

WHO CARES?? That's right! That's my opinion. Who cares if it's a made up holiday for consumers. In my opinion if it is made to celebrate the ones you love than it can't be a bad thing. No one is forcing you to buy presents, or make something or go out to a fancy meal.

For example what did I get for Valentine's Day... A container of Baked Beans! Yep you heard right and do you think I'm offended. Nope I think it's hilarious. My husband handed them to me with a card and said, "Happy Valentines Day! It's the gift that keeps on giving"

You got to love that right?

In our house we have the family motto of "Family First", it's a pretty simple concept and it's really easy to say to our children when they are fighting (although it kind of seems to lose some of it's value when you are gritting your teeth and saying "Family (stinkin) First"! ).

So any day that is about putting your husband or children or grandchildren first is fine by me. And for all of you Valentine's Day Whiners out there. Get over it! Who cares if you didn't get what you wanted, it's not about you it's about them. If you got them something and celebrated Them, then you did your job and that really is all that matters.

Cause there is always next year!

So what did I do for him for Valentine's Day? While he was at his Wednesday night Stake meeting, I went up to the Dental School (while a neighbor watched the monsters) and decorated his rollable cart. Yes cheeso galore, but I think I did a cute job.

Who is that model in the pic?? Oh silly that's just me!

Yes Adam, You get this for eternity! How do you like that!!

Matching Pajamas... Part 2

So I wasn't expecting there to be a Part 2, but today in the mail we recieved a Valentine's Day package from Nonnie. I called Nonnie and she wanted them to open the package. Of course it was Matching Pajamas!

They wanted their picture taken with their new pj's on and then we got a little carried away. I'm sure jumping on beds is not appropriate in most households (including mine usually) But they were having so much fun and looked so happy I decided to let it slide for a few minutes.

So today's story is Yes, my children still wear matching pajamas and Yes, I'm an extremely bad mother who let her children jump on beds just so that she could take pictures of them.
We love our new pajamas! Paige really likes the pictures with just her. You could call her a picture hog. She'd probably agree with you. So what do you think of the whole side pony tail? Everyone has more fun with a side pony tail. It's kind of like living on the edge. You're telling the world "Yeah, I have a pony tail and I keep it on the side.) Yes, I know they aren't sleeping. For some reason they love for me to take pictures of them pretending to sleep. Kelly has gotten pretty good, but Paige still can't stop smiling. No I didn't make their bed for the pictures. Hmm probably should have though so that I could come off as Super Mom. I'll make a note to self for next time. This actually started off as a headstand, but she fell before I could get it. Like I said before, Jen was a bad mom today. What kids don't love jumping on the bed. I mean I know they do it when I'm not around. And here is Paige flying between beds. It's a big jump and Kel just isn't into this one. Paige has perfected her technique.

Willpower Part 2

Don't think that I have solved my willpower problem, because I haven't in fact I don't think I want it to totally go away. However, I do want to be able to drive home from the gym without having that urge to stop and "Celebrate" my cardio success. Today was one of those days.

Honestly I wanted to celebrate the fact that I even made it to the Gym. I'm surprised I didn't stop on the way to work out buy a breakfast sandwich. I was strong though I made it to the gym Hurray!! The celebration came later though... (sorry to let my fan club down)

On the drive home from the gym we have about 4 obstacles. The first one comes up on your left about 300 feet after you leave the YMCA. It's a Sonic, I can usually withstand this one unless I need my "Breakfast Soda". The next one is Taco Bell, I don't even like Taco Bell, but for some reason a Celebration Meal tastes good no matter where you get it from. After Taco Bell you have KFC on the left and McD's on your right. KFC has never really gotten me, because I am a true Card Carrying member of the Laziness club and this KFC does not have a drive through.

So now that I've given you a layout of my drive home I will confess... Today it was Taco Bell. Like I previously said I don't even like Taco Bell, but on the way home I was like "I'll stop and get a pinto's and cheese" I remembered from Weight Watchers that a Pinto's and cheese is only 150 calories, so I thought I could get my "fix". But no I couldn't stop there. Today I went for the big one. It's pictured above. Once again I lost my battle. Better luck tomorrow.

Matching Pajamas... Totally Cheesy!

I should probably have a disclaimer on my blog page that says "If you don't like matching outfits, cheesy smiles and lots of smushy sentimental moments Don't Enter" .

That's just Me. I buy my children matching outfits, I think Hallmark commercials deserve Oscar nominations, and my favorite line from a movie is "You had me at hello" (second would be "No one puts baby in the corner", from Dirty Dancing)

So here are some pictures from bedtime tonight. Adam was at urgent care with my Kelly (Strep Throat) and I was in charge of bedtime. Bedtime with mom tonight involved my boys in matching pajamas, pictures of course, and a few rounds of ring around the rosy.

Tommy is trying to show me his teeth. It's the only way to get him to smile. Okay... a little better, they sure are cute. And Tommy is done, luckily Preston wasn't pushed off the couch or anything. Here comes the Ring around the rosy And the All fall down Preston's eyes are so big, because Tommy just jumped over them. And of course Tommy wanted a turn to sit on Paige.

Hope you all weren't too incredibly bored with my pictures. All you non-related folk have to remember that the main purpose for my blog was to provide family members and far off loved ones with an overload of Wehrmeister Family Fun!
