But now, I've got nothing for them. They are leaving their friends and it stinks. Oh I know I'll get the comments "They will find new friends", "Oh they are young and resilient" and "Blah blah blah". Well I get that. I agree, but for the moment it is sad. And that is where I am at. I am in the moment.
So in particular it is thinking of Tommy and his BFF that make me sad. They have known each other since they were born and are hilarious together. They spend many of their waking hours together, and for Tommy life revolves around Garrison. How awesome that he has a best friend that lives right across the street.
The boys just love watching the trash man come. I think this was the highlight of the day. This is also the moment that I realized that neither one of these boys are going to remember what they had. They are 3, I know that I don't have any memories from when I was 3 so I doubt that they will.
This pic is probably my favorite, because it is a classic. This is day to day life for these 2 boys. They have ridden this stretch of sidewalk countless times and it never gets old. Back and forth. Sometimes they chase each other, sometimes they race. They are always up for a good game of CRASH and if me or Mir look away for a second, their favorite game is go down the hill as fast as they can (because they know when they are caught they have to go inside... but sometimes they are willing to take the punishment for a good ride down the hill).

I love your post. Definitely captures the trauma of separation!
Also, have fun with the new dollhouse!
Sad. Ryan's little best friends (2 brothers) moved away a year ago when he was 3. It really was sad and he still talks about them. And now he has friends but no BEST friend like they they were to him. Hopefully he'll get a new one some day. . .
BFF's forever... isn't that redundant like ATM machine?
Sometimes, I can't wait to get away from here, but I understand the socialization that exists there. It makes it hard to leave. At least you are moving closer to Grandparents. We won't have that luxury for a long time.
I guess I don't know what to say...you're right. It's sad...it really is. I also know that in a year the kids will be going Kansas City? Where's that? :)
I moved my little kids around so much and it broke my heart more than it broke theirs. They still remember those early days and talk about how they miss their friends but there is no more sadness. They miss being away from family more then anything...and you're going toward that...so that's wonderful.
You will be missed.
That WILL be sad when we have to do what you're doing. It is not hard for me to admit it because I have LOVED LOVED LOVED living here. (May sound funny to some people, but I love having insta-friends).
I love the picture of them hugging!!! Holy cow it does not get better than that. We are going to miss you, too Miss Jen. I don't like to think about what life will be like without your contribution to the fun times outside. *sniff*
I agree - they are resilient, they will make new friends and they probably won't remember BUT for the moment IT IS sad and IT WILL break your heart and that's okay.
You have blogged about it and one day you will be able to show Tommy all about his dear childhood friend that he may/maynot remember.
I might cry. How sweet. I want a BFF like that. But not right before I move somewhere across the state.
I am not just sniffling, I am out and out ,CRYING. I can't wait til you are 1.3 miles from me. I will be Tommy's new BFF.I just can't ride bikes. They have had a very special bond,Garrison and Tommy. I hope they will be close always....
Ilove you guys !!!
Tommy has grown up, he is adorable! Preston is so cute too. I was so glad you posted on my blog, we have missed the townhomes. Tell Adam congrats on graduating! Tommy will survive, Noah doesn't even remember living in Kansas City. Danny was a bit sad after we left too. Good Luck with everything, let's keep in touch.
I am sad that there isn't going to be anyone in WV. Who lives there anyways? My favorite picture is of the two boys watch the garbage truck. I will miss you guys.
