Definition: Shout-Out

Random post real quick, but my mother makes me giggle sometimes. I called to tell her that I gave her a "shout-out" in my blog (I said it jokingly thinking that she knew what I was talking about. Sometimes when she thinks she's funny she says "Don't get jiggy on me" So I thought her homie-g-funks have been coming to her crib to teach her how to hang with the dawgs).

So then while I'm on the phone with her she gets on my blog and is silent. She finally says, "Jen what does a shout look like?" hmmm... never mind mom. I'll let Wikopedia handle this one.

Shout-out From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Redirected from Shout out) A shout-out is a greeting or acknowledgment of a person, group, or organization of significance. It is often done as a sign of respect, synonymous with "giving props".

So there you go mom that is a shout out.

I am not a reader

I mean I know how to read, and I do make exceptions for Harry Potter, magazines and of course the scriptures. But I am not a "read for fun" type reader. I came close once. I used to like to write poems. I also thought they weren't half bad until I realized that "real poets" don't usually write rhyming poetry. So there went my poetry career. Sorry to ramble, but I do have a point!

My sister Melanie has been having "Poem of the day" on her blog. I skimmed over it quickly because the first line bored me, but today I randomly read it and loved the Poem. Well I actually just loved a passage in the poem, but almost the same thing. Here it is:

I want to be famous in the way a pulley is famous, or a buttonhole, not because it did anything spectacular, but because it never forgot what it could do.

I am still smiling after reading this. I love it! I think it hits on how many of us feel. Maybe I can expand later, but probably not. You either get poetry or you don't. I get this passage. I agree with it and it makes me want to get up and do more with my day. So thank you Mel for putting "boring" poetry on your blog.

Why does Kelly Dance?? Just to look cute!

Yes, I understand how shallow that sounds and I hope you know that I am HALF joking. I want them to dance because they enjoy it and I think it is good experience for them. Oh and so they can be Rockin Dance Stars like their mother!

For Kelly's birthday my mother gave her this cute little white tie jacket that dancers wear to dance class. It has her name down the side. When she opened it she was super excited. (She had no idea what it was for, but she loved that it had her name on it.) Soo these pictures are for you Nonnie, Thanks

So the one thing I forgot to take a picture of was her sleeve where it says her name. Silly me.

Tagged- I REALLY hate games

So I've been tagged... I didn't even realize I was playing a game in which I could be tagged. Since it is my "sickly" friend Emily who tagged me, I will participate. Here are the rules.

1. Share 7 random and or weird things about yourself. 2. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs. 3. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Okay, so she said I have to come up with 7 random facts about me. So I will see what I can come up with.

1.)I took a few years of acrobatics when I was younger

2. )I graduated a year early from High School. I "Loved" high school so much that I decided to be done with it a year early. Plus one of my best friends was graduating and I didn't feel like doing the last year without her-and on top of that one of my good friends told me she didn't think I'd be able to graduate a year early. I'm all about proving people wrong.

3.)I took PE through a correspondence course while I was in High School. Since, I decided to graduate early I had to take 4 correspondence courses throughout the school year. I saw PE as an option and jumped all over that one. (Probably because I was a member of the laziness club)

4.) My feet used to stink when I was younger... I will just leave it at that. Very depressing to think about. In fact I am still self conscious about it (even though they don't stink anymore... I think)

5.) I once got a second job so I would be less available for a boy I was dating. (The first day of my second job he was waiting for me at my kitchen table when I got off work!) No it was not Adam.

6.) My secret wish would to suddenly be able to sing... on key. My family is very musical and I was not blessed with a voice. A good voice that is. I sing all the time to my kids and I sing constantly in the car, but I don't sing at church. I'm afraid of what the poor people sitting around me would have to hear.

7.) In the past I have cleaned up my house and then when someone has come over, I've apologized for the big mess... (I thought it was funny)

on the same note when it's been a big mess and people have come over, I tell them that someone broke in and all they did was take eveything out of my drawers and throw them on the floor.

So now I am supposed to tag people. So Kim Bond, Shay Olsen, Tina Barrett, Melanie Aaron Paget, Jenny Livingston and Candi Miller. You have been tagged.

No backing out either. If I did it you have to, because I didn't want to either. There you have it.

Look Who's 6! (Tomorrow)

So my sweet little girl is finally 6! You would think I'd be saying, "Wow time flies! I can't believe she's 6", but no not me. Kelly has been reminding me for the past month that she was going to be 6. She has marked the days on the calendar and has been counting down daily. It has been a very exhausting month. The only "joy" I have gotten from this countdown is that I have been able to say "Is that how an almost 6 year old would act?" (And yes I'm sure that I have WAY over used that phrase this month, but I'm the parent I'm in charge.) So today is the last day on\f her countdown.

One of the things I like about my children's birthdays is how I "relive" their birth each year (you'd think that would be good birth control? obviously not). Your first pregnancy and baby is so different then the rest. I remember my mom's friend thinking we were young for starting our family and would always say "Well, at least they get to grow up together". She was right too. We have sure had a good time "learning" how to be parents.

When I think of Kelly I think of her as Adam's and my first "joint project". All those years of imagining what my children would be like and who they would look like and how they would act and then one day...Kelly was here! I felt like I was still playing house. She is the child that I "imagined" for so many years. She is a kind child, a great sister and a loving daughter. She puts her siblings first and is always willing to wait her turn, knowing that the younger ones usually go first. At the end of the day she still finds comfort in her mother's arms and I treasure my time spent with her.

Her biggest flaw is that she still believes people. She believes her friends when they tell her they read big chapter books or that they are from Egypt. She believes that everyone tells the truth all the time. (Even when I try to explain otherwise). This is something else that I know won't last forever. I just pray that she will learn how to tell who is joking, pretending or lying. I guess if that is her biggest flaw (I mean besides the drinking and swearing) I should count my blessings. Happy Birthday Kelly!, Mommy loves you.

TIME FOR THE PICTURES!! Now If I were Super Mom I would have pulled out my favorite pictures, scanned them into the computer and them put them into some slideshow type thing with music to go with it. If I was feeling especially ambitious I would add some voiceovers of me and Adam telling Kelly how special she is. BUT I am no Super Mom. I went to my picture folder on my computer and scanned through to try to find some of her at various ages. I tried, but some of them are still not that great of pictures. Also, as you look at them try humming Tim McGraw's song called My Little Girl. It adds a touch of sappiness to the pictures.

Kelly on her Blessing day.

Kelly at 4 months old. Not the cutest picture of either of them, but like I said not many to choose from.

The first one is Kelly at about 15 months and the second one she is 2 1/2

Kelly on her 3rd birthday!

Here is Kelly at 3 1/2. She is holding baby Tommy.

Here is Kelly last week. She has decided that she likes to do the dishes after dinner. See she really is a good girl. (Yes, now I am bragging. Somebody should hit me)

My Husband Mocks Me

So I don't know when it really started (or how), but now at least once a day I will hear my husband say "Are you going to blog that?", and then he laughs at his super funny joke. Now you see I really don't blog that much, I mean look at my number of entries (not tons). I also don't post every picture I take (like he thinks I do), even when I am tempted to do some "My kids are so much cooler than your kids" posts (I mean my kids are still cooler, I'm just not going to blog about it everyday).

I guess what I really need to do is set up a survey to see if I am meeting the needs of my "readers" or bloggers I'm not really sure of the terminology in the blog world. I guess the other option would be for all of my friends (I do have hundreds) to go up to my husband and tell him that MY blog is the highlight of their day, or that they were going through a rough patch and after reading my blog the world seems new again. If you don't live in town you could always call or send an email that would work too. If you do opt for the email option I'm thinking you need to be even more dramatic, because he won't be able to see the tears that you would provide if you actually did it in person.

I bring this up, because last night we had some friends over and I broke out the camera and of course it was followed with the always funny "Are you blogging this?" comment. I told him no at the time, but now I am taking a stand! I don't really know what I'm standing for, but I am at least standing Proud! So Adam the answer is Yes, Yes I am blogging this!

So we played the "new" version of cranium (It's basically the same thing, just in a different box)

They are acting out juggling (in case you were confused)

Josh is actually enjoying himself, even though that does look like some wicked expression on his face.

Don't really know? Can't explain this one.

A close up of a Humdinger in action.

Let me explain, Kendra likes to "help" ALL of the teams. She is just naturally talented at guessing the answer and so she would just blurt it out (EVERYTIME). So I thought I should help.

This is just Dave and Adam, they are good friends so they hang out like this all the time. It wasn't part of the game.

Finally, Kendra doesn't know the answer. Oh Happy Day!

So there you have it! I blogged an event and I don't care. Take that Adam! (Don't worry I still love you)

Miracle of Miracles

This entry should actually be entitled "Ode to the Miracle Blanket". So sit back and get out your popcorn (or donuts) and I will tell you a little story.

Once upon a time in a beautiful 4 bedroom government subsidized townhouse, lived a little 3 month old baby. Since this is just a story (nudge nudge wink wink) we will call this baby "Weston".
You see Weston decided at a very young age that he loved his mother soo much that he didn't want to sleep for long periods of time, because he could not stand to be away from her (or at least that's what she is telling herself.)

Okay you got me, this is not just a story. It's me! Preston has struggled with this whole sleeping thing since birth. I know I've been spoiled, but my other 3 children have been marvoulous sleepers. This little guy though... not so much.

Well I'm sure I was complaining one too many time to my friend (to keep her identity a secret I will call her... Jenny Livingston) and she offered to lend me 2 miracle blankets, yep that really is there name.

And they work! He is now sleeping up to 8 hours at a time and then after he eats has no problem falling back asleep. It has been amazing. In fact my poor friend "Jenny" has been getting a phone call from me every morning thanking her for lending me the blankets. I'm sure that's going a smidge overboard, but the statue that I'm having built in her honor won't be completed till the spring so I thought that a phone call would have to do for now.

ETA: So I've even had a phone call regarding my post about this Miracle Blanket. I've only had a week with it and I already think it's amazing. I did do some homework (for a friend, cause I am that nice) and here are more reviews.

http://www.amazon.com/review/product/B000G0KQWQ/ref=pr_all_summary_cm_cr_acr_txt?%5Fencoding=UTF8&showViewpoints=1 (This one impressed me, because out of 24 reviews 21 gave 5 stars, 2 gave 4 stars, and only one person gave it 1 star)

See you don't have to just take my word for it.

Lucky me!

Jen: Don't think you are getting lucky tonight. Adam: I'm already lucky.

Yep total cheeseball I know, but that's why I love him.

Preston is 3 months!

Time flies doesn't it? Preston is now 14 pounds and 24 inches long. His head is large, but not as large as his siblings. It was still impressive enough to get measured twice (although I assured the Dr, that the first number was right he insisted on rechecking it)

Preston has learned several new tricks (yes I do know he is not a pet). He cries when he needs to be fed (pretty impressive, I know) He cries when he needs a new diaper (He is so in touch with his needs) and lastly he cries when he is tired. I mean who could ask for a more talented child. He is definitely on the bright side, I can tell already!

Honestly, the first 2 months were hard, but this past month has been a big improvement. I am now cooking and cleaning again (Adam is enjoying this). I find myself making an effort to enjoy the little things that I know won't last forever.

Preston has been a blessing in our lives and we are very thankful that we have him in our family.

Preston today at his 3 month check-up.
These are just some pictures from today. That hat he has on was so big on him when he was born, and yes I still made him wear it when it was huge.

Sneezes are still cute at 3 months

ETA: Okay so I know I am totally on Preston Picture overload here, but here are a couple more from today and my mother will be upset if I don't put them on here.

Conversation with Paige

Today Paige and I have a little chat during lunch. :

Paige: I'm not going to have even one snack today.

Me: Really?

Paige: I'm not going to watch any TV either.

Me: Really? Why?

Paige: If you watch too much TV and snacks then you won't get strong and healthy

Me: Do you want me to turn a movie on for you?

Paige: Sure!

Willpower

So today after dinner it finally happened... Kelly pointed to my still not gone tummy (where baby Preston used to live) and said, "Mom why do you still have that."

Hmmmm... I tried not to pause or look shocked, I quickly responded that I am really a bear and I have to save as much fat as possible in order to survive this winter season. Well actually I didn't say that, although I would have liked to. Instead I was mostly honest and said, "After moms have babies it takes a while for their tummies to go away."

If I was being totally honest I would have said, "You see sweetheart your mommy likes donuts and brownies with ice cream and on a really crappy day she could probably down half of a French Silk Pie!" then I could continue it with: "You see Kelly, your mother has NO willpower" and If I really wanted to scare her I could have finished it with "Statistics show that you will most likely inherit this tummy that I have, because I will probably be passing on my bad habits to you. So treasure your cute little waist while you can sweetie"

So there you have it. In a few more months I will no longer be able to blame this tummy on Preston. I will have to take responsibility for my lack of Willpower. Maybe a good way to start would be to stop blogging right now and go downstairs and play Dance Dance Revolution with Adam and the kids... I've gotta start somewhere.

I hope they always love each other

I think every parent wishes and hopes for this, but we also realize that life happens and siblings find out that they don't have to be "best friends", BUT until that day comes to the Wehrmeister household I am going to live in denial!
Yes, my girls are going to adore each other forever and if you think I'm living in a bubble then you would be right, but I'm okay with that. It's a big shiny bubble (tinted pink) and if you want to believe in fairy tales, prince charming, flowers that never wilt and sisters that never fight then you are more then welcome to come join me in my bubble. If you don't agree with me... then you can go ahead and press that red X in the right hand corner of your window.
If I could freeze time I would.

Here they go showing off their moves.

And we can't forget about Paige.
